Perception,
seeing things with your eyes

Perception, do
you see something?
Since a few weeks
I have been searching
for a solution to
the riddle of perception.
What do we see?
Is there sometihng
to be seen?
The surety of
scinece about seeing things is sometimes
to much for me. We
are taken by surprise by scientists
every times we are
confronted with pictures from
somewhere in outer
space: star clouds, galaxies.
Even science has
nothing more to say then that light
used for the
picture has been travelling
thousands of
years.
May be the object
on the picture does not exist anymore
since the same
billions of years.
Our brain has a
lot of difficulty with objects
we have not seen
before.
In fact the brain
tries to overlook things we don't know.
An interesting
story is the UFO testimony
by two reliable
ladies.
See the special page on this UFO unseen.
I have tried to
make a table of possibilities in perception:
1 |
There is
something to be seen |
The eyes have
seen something |
The brain has
noticed the object |
2 |
There is
something to be seen |
The eyes have
seen something |
The brain has not noticed
the object |
3 |
There is
something to be seen |
The eyes have not
seen something |
The brain has
noticed the object |
4 |
There is
something to be seen |
The eyes have not
seen something |
The brain has not
noticed the object |
5 |
There is not
something to be seen |
The eyes have
seen something |
The brain has
noticed the object |
6 |
There is not
something to be seen |
The eyes have
seen something |
The brain has not
noticed the object |
7 |
There is not
something to be seen |
The eyes have not
seen something |
The brain has
noticed the object |
8 |
There is not
something to be seen |
The eyes have not
seen something |
The brain has not
noticed the object |
Some of the
possible combinations seem to be neglectable,
but for reasons
not to oversee any possibility
we keep all eight
combinations for discussion.
Possibility 1.
This seems to be
the normal situation.
It is the
optimistic view on the world,
which is more or
less the view of the empirical sciences
and seems to be
the Western way of perception.
Possibility 2.
Although many will
not believe this possibility to be normal,
I have the feeling
that not having "seen"
that was there to
be seen is quite normal.
For example our
brain skips everything
that relates to
molecules and the emptiness of solid object.
Possibility 3.
Here I am as a
psychic person.
Somehow there was
something.
I did not see it,
but the impression of something is in my brain.
This happens with
the many persons who have visions.
Possibility 4.
This is of course
a very probable possibility.
Certainly when
something is out of the ordinary,
we have learned to
skip it.
Many details in
life are overseen that way:
The beauty of the people surrounding us.
The love near us.
Possibility 5.
Here we are in the
field of mistakes.
Or maybe in
telepathic messaging.
Or in the fruitful
imagination of artists.
Possibility 6.
Is this a likely
possibility?
Anyway it seems to
be not very useful.
Possibility 7.
Telepathy.
Distant messaging.
Dreaming.
Other dimensions.
Possibility 8.
Ok, this
possibility is the negation of everything.
So nothing there,
I presume.
